The best way to ensure that the professional you choose will deliver quality work is to check if he or she is certified with an association or a professional corporation. We saw in a previous article that there are a lot of reasons to choose a certified translator. Here is a list of different organizations where you can find an English-French translator you can trust.

Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés (OTTIAQ)

This is the professional corporation of the province of Quebec, Canada. This is probably where you’ll find the best English-French translators in various areas.

Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO)

This is the professional association of Ontario, Canada. Ontario is home of the capital, Ottawa, which is also in a sense the ‘‘capital of translation’’, since most of the government work is translated there.

American Translators Association (ATA)

The ATA also has a certification program. Its directory allows you to find a translator by closest location or languages combinations.

Literary Translators’ Assocation of Canada (LTAC)

If you need the help of an English-French translator to translate a novel, poetry, drama or any work of fiction or non-fiction, this is where you should look.

International Federation of Translators (IFT)

This organization represents dozens of associations of translators and interpreters around the world. If you are looking for a translator located in Europe, Latin America or Asia, search the IFT’s directory to find the national association you want.
